One killed as car and truck collide in Southland

One person died and another was injured in a collision between a car and a truck in Southland tonight.

Police are at the scene of the crash that happened on State Highway 96, near Browns, shortly after 7pm.

They say one person died at the scene and another sustained minor injuries.

The road is closed and diversions are in place.

Police say the Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
