One dead, two critically injured after car crashes into pole in Whangārei

One person has died in Whangārei after a car crashed into a pole early today.

Police were called to the single-vehicle crash on Maunu Road just after 2am.

Two others who were in the car were taken to hospital with critical injuries, police said. 

The person died at the scene. 

The serious crash unit examined the scene this morning.

An investigation into the crash will be started.
