One dead in New Year's Day crash in Tauranga

One person is dead after a two vehicle crash on State Highway 29A in Tauranga.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.15am today on the Maungatapu Bridge.

A 69-year-old Tauranga man died in the crash.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
