A one vehicle crash in South Canterbury has left one person dead overnight.
A car crashed near the town of Winchester, 35km north of Timaru, around 12.05am this morning.
The deceased was a 34-year-old passenger in that car, police said in a statement.
A Serious Crash Unit investigation is underway into the cause of the crash and the death has been referred to the Coroner.
