One dead, section of SH1 closed following overnight crash in Canterbury

A stretch of State Highway 1 remains closed after a fatal crash overnight between a car and a truck in Canterbury.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told 1 NEWS the incident happened just after 3am on a section of the highway also known as Main South Road, two kilometres south of Dunsandel. 

The driver of the car died as a result of the crash. The truck driver was also injured, authorities said. 

A detour remained in place this morning.
