A serious car accident in Muriwai today has left one person dead and two injured.
The incident happened on Oaia Road shortly after 1pm, when a vehicle rolled down the driveway of a private property, a police spokesperson said.
Emergency services were called to the scene to assist the three trapped occupants after the vehicle rolled down a bank.
Two occupants were freed from the vehicle but one died at the scene.
One has been taken to hospital in a serious condition, the other moderate.
