Once wild horse and young talented rider prepare for NZ's biggest equestrian talent quest

A star turn at the property of the Wilson sisters is thriving in the hands of an up and coming horsewoman.

A "very cute" horse and her young skilled rider are perfecting their moves ahead of a big upcoming equestrian talent event near Hamilton.

Equidays features equestrian action over three days and is being held next weekend.

Shyla, a brumby, is now a star at the Wilson sisters' property in Northland after being saved from the Snowy Mountains in Australia and potentially spared the slaughterhouse.

Kelly Wilson, one of the star tamers in TVNZ's Keeping up with the Kaimanawas, brought Shyla back to New Zealand and is now thriving in the hands on an up and coming horsewoman, Nina.

"It's the dream outcome for that horse," Kelly told Seven Sharp.

"Every pony deserves to be loved by a little girl once in their lives."

The pair are now inseparable besties, with Nina agreeing she's her number one mate.

"I love her a lot," Nina said.
