NZTA worker taken to hospital after being hit by truck in Kaikoura

A NZTA worker working on the Kaikoura rebuild has been taken to hospital after being hit by a truck this morning.

Police say the incident occurred just after 7.30am, between Seaward Valley and Waipapa Bay and appeared to have taken place in a work site area.

The man in his 50s suffered moderate injuries to his leg and was taken to hospital.

An NZTA spokesperson told 1 NEWS that "a worker was taken to hospital as a precaution after an incident on-site this morning. We will be investigating thoroughly".

A police say they are investigating the incident but may hand it over to WorkSafe.
