NZ Post has announced today that six of its branches in Christchurch will close and is looking instead to use existing businesses to accommodate the services.
Outlets affected are: Kaiapoi, The Palms, Barrington Mall, Hornby, Riccarton and Upper Riccarton NZ Post & Kiwibank branches.
New Zealand Post head of retail, Mark Yagmich, says existing businesses were being invited to help deliver the services.
“Working with local businesses and agencies in this way helps us meet our obligations to operate a network of 880 postal outlets, he said.
“We already successfully deliver postal services through over 800 local businesses and agencies as a way of operating as a commercially sustainable business.
Kiwibank have announced they will operate standalone branches at their current sites in The Palms and Hornby, and open two new standalone branches in Riccarton and Kaiapoi.
