Nurses, DHBs fail to make deal in urgent pay talks as nationwide strikes loom

Talks will continue on Monday in a bid to avert nurses walking off the job next month.

Urgent pay talks between nurses and district health boards have failed to reach a conclusion with nationwide strikes now less than two weeks away. 

However, talks will continue on Monday in a bid to avert nurses walking off the job. 

Twenty-four-hour strikes are planned for July 5 and 12.

DHBs are working on contingency plans to ensure emergency and essential services are available.
