Number of people in police custody as Whanganui hunt for gang member's killers continues

Gang member Kevin Ratana was shot and killed last Tuesday in Castlecliffe.

A number of people are in police custody today as the investigation into the fatal shooting of Mongrel Mob member Kevin Ratana in Whanganui continues.

The Mongrel Mob member was shot dead last week.

Police say the Armed Offenders Squad and the Police Eagle helicopter assisted investigative staff in executing multiple search warrants in the area today.

The tangi for Mr Ratana , who was shot dead on Tuesday, was held today.

Kevin Ratana was shot and killed last Tuesday in Castlecliffe.

Police say some of those in custody are expected to be released on bail, and some held in custody, as potential charges are confirmed.

Police also today recovered a number of firearms, firearms parts, and ammunition.

They say the Whanganui community can expect to continue to see an increased number of armed police, investigative staff, and the Eagle helicopter in the area as we work on the investigation.
