A number of cheese products have been removed from store shelves across New Zealand over listeria fears.
The Ministry for Primary Industries released a list of products being recalled today saying: “The following products are being removed from shelves and should not be eaten. If you have any of these products in your fridge you should return them to the retailer or throw them out."
“We've received unconfirmed test results indicating the presence of listeria in one of the products processed at the Talbot Forest Cheese factory in Temuka.
"The company recognises the potential risk and is working to have the product removed from shelves. We will be working with the company to ensure it is properly managing future risk of product contamination by listeria.”
Recalled products:
Talbot Forest Cheese brand cheese products:
Gibbston Valley Cheese brand cheese products:
The Cuisine Canteen brand cheese products:
Pams Finest brand cheese products:
These products were available at retail outlets across New Zealand and none of the product has been exported, MPI said.
MPI said there was no evidence of the products being linked to three listeria cases in Tauranga at this stage.
In those cases, one person died and the other two were hospitalised.
The above products were updated from an earlier version.
