'None of us are free until we are all free' - Auckland Pride board releases video ahead of crucial meeting

December 6, 2018

The Auckland Pride board has gone on a last-minute PR blitz ahead of a special meeting deciding its fate tonight.

It’s released a video on Facebook and Twitter saying "none of us are free until all of us are free".

The board will either be rolled or survive a vote of no confidence after more than two weeks of division within the LGBTI+ community.

Last month the board running the Pride Parade said it would ban uniformed Police from marching down Auckland’s Ponsonby Road next year.

Several companies then said they wouldn’t participate, as well as the Defence Force.

Some funders have also stopped their support.

A crowdfunding effort set up by supporters of the uniform ban to help with funding has now reached almost $25,000.

The money will go to other organisations and groups if the board doesn’t survive tonight’s 6pm meeting.
