Bill English has continued to dig his heels in over Steven Joyce's widely discredited $11.7 billion fiscal hole accusation that he directed at Labour, today rejecting suggestions his finance spokesperson has embarrassed the National Party.
When asked today in Ashburton, Canterbury, if Joyce had embarrassed the party over his $11 billion hole accusation, Mr English said "no I don't agree with that".
Mr English then went on to provide fresh criticism of Labour finance spokesperson Grant Robertson's allegedly incoherent budget.
"Grant Robertson's produced the strangest set of budget forecasts I've ever seen, and I've looked at more of them than anyone else in the country," Mr English said.
"It [Robertson's budget] implies, that Labour will spend a lot less than National across a huge chunk of Government, outside of health and education, and that's just not sensible.
"No one would believe that."
Grant Robertson said this morning Steven Joyce had embarrassed himself over the claims.
