Nine people discharged from hospital following jet boat crash in Queenstown's Shotover River

Eight people have been discharged from hospital after suffering minor injuries in a jet boat crash in Queenstown's Shotover River yesterday morning. 

Eight passengers were treated for their injuries and discharged from Queenstown's Lakes District Hospital the same day, while one passenger was transported to Dunedin Hospital with a broken leg.

The boat driver received sustained minor injuries in the crash, and was discharged from Lakes District Hospital after a precautionary exam yesterday. 

Skippers Canyon Jet was found to have followed its operational safety procedures as a result of the incident, the company said in a statement.

Skippers Canyon is currently working with Maritime New Zealand and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission to determine the cause of the crash.

It will also carry out an internal investigation and is fully co-operating with the relevant authorities, company spokesperson Gavin Larsen said. 

Skippers Canyon Jet has temporarily suspended operations while the initial investigation is underway.
