New Plymouth SPCA investigating after man blows smoke into kitten's face in attempt to get it 'stoned'

The SPCA are investigating after a video was posted to Facebook of a Taranaki couple allegedly attempting to get a kitten stoned.

The video shows a woman cradling a kitten as a man takes a bong hit before blowing a big cloud of smoke directly into the animal's face.

Before carrying out the act, the man in the video can be heard saying: "This cat, I only found today, so it's new, roughly about five, six weeks old.

"This is going to be its second time getting stoned."

After blowing what appears to be cannabis smoke into its face he says, "cruel but not wrong".

The New Plymouth SPCA told 1 NEWS they're investigating the matter and have been in contact with the people who appeared in the video.
