Nelson police are looking for two Good Samaritans who drove two teenage girls to safety from a carpark where they were threatened by a group of eight young women.

The incident occurred in the Buxton Square Carpark in the early hours of last Sunday morning, October 21, Detective Ruth Collins said tonight.

Between 12.30am and 1am two teenage girls were threatened by a group of eight young women near the public toilets, she said in a statement.

The girls who were being threatened sought help from two men who were sitting in a nearby car.

The girls got into the car and the group are believed to have then attacked the car, Ms Collins said.

The men drove the girls away from the carpark to safety.

Police are keen to speak with the two men and are asking that they contact Nelson Police.

They were driving a dark coloured sedan with mismatched mag wheels.

Police would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the carpark at the time and witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information that may be relevant to the investigation, Ms Collins said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nelson Police on (03) 546 3840. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
