Natural causes to blame for Auckland e-scooter death, police say

A 59-year-old man died on a footpath near Fanshawe Street at around 10pm last night.

The man who died earlier this week on an e-scooter died of natural causes police said today.

A 59-year old man died on Auckland's Fanshawe Street on Monday. Authorities told 1 NEWS at the time it was believed he went into cardiac arrest.

Police said today that inquiries are still underway, while the matter has been referred to the coroner.

The incident was initially thought to be the first e-scooter related death in New Zealand.
