The Opposition are not calling for Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran to resign, despite leader Simon Bridges labelling Labour's handling of a meeting Broadcasting Minister Clare Curran a concerning "cover up".

On TVNZ1's Breakfast this morning, Mr Bridges said the meeting between Ms Curran and seasoned journalist Carol Hirschfeld last December was "just another part of the shambles" of the Labour-led government.

The minister says her relationship with the state broadcaster has been unharmed by the recent controversy.

"I think what's so concerning is the cover up. It's taken parliament, effectively opposition, [to] tease this out."

He said the situation was serious due to the resignation of Ms Hirshfeld, the "huge" amount of money discussed and the potential of "big changes" in broadcasting.

The National Party leader said the situation was serious, but questions still need to be asked.

Mr Bridges said they were not calling for her resignation, but there were still questions that needed to be asked of the Minister.

"She is in trouble here, there has been a cover up she's been involved in, it does involve a lot of taxpayers' money.
