The National MP under investigation by the police has arrived at the National Party’s two-day caucus retreat in Hamilton.
Sarah Dowie, the MP for Invercargill, had until now refused to be interviewed or answer any questions about an abusive text message she sent to her former lover, and the former National Party MP, Jami-Lee Ross.
This morning Ms Dowie repeatedly said it would be inappropriate for her to comment about the text message given the possible police action.
She declined to go into details about her relationship with Mr Ross or say whether her behaviour has brought the National Party into disrepute.
She said she was committed to the people of her electorate.
The police recently issued this statement:
“Police can confirm that an investigation is ongoing into a text message sent to Mr Jami-Lee Ross and while the investigation is ongoing we are not in a position to go into specifics.”
