How much do freedom campers really spend in NZ?

The number of freedom campers in New Zealand is rising steadily, with over 100,000 thought to be now visiting the country every year.

The Government claims freedom campers contribute at least half a billion dollars to the economy every year, with one local authority claiming each camper spends up to $140 a day.
