Police say a five-month-old child was found dead at a Motueka home last night.
A 41-year-old woman was found with serious injuries, and a homicide investigation has been launched, Detective Inspector Craig Scott said.
The woman remains in Nelson Hospital.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Memorial Dr around 8.40pm yesterday.
Police are speaking with someone over the death.
