Motorcycles carrying teddy bears join funeral cortege for Taranaki girl killed riding bike home from school

Emma Warren, who died in a collision with a truck in Inglewood, loved bikes and teddy bears and her dad is a motorcyclist.

Motorcyclists turned out in force in Taranaki this morning to pay their respects to a seven-year-old girl who died in a crash as she cycled home from school last week.

Emma Warren was killed in a collision with a truck near the intersection of Rata St and Miro St in Inglewood on Wednesday afternoon.

Fairfax reports the Inglewood Primary School student's father, S'ean Warren, is a motorcyclist and his friends appealed for others to accompany the procession to the Taranaki Crematorium outside New Plymouth this morning.

Video shows how dozens of motorcyclists responded and joined the funeral cortege.

Many of the motorcyclists had a teddy bear attached to the handle bars, as was requested in a Facebook post which said Emma loved teddy bears and bikes and love to ride with her dad.

The lobbyists running the 'Share The Road' campaign want the next Transport Minister to do more for cyclists safety.

People stood along Rata St as the cortege went past.

A Givealittle page set up to help the Warren family has raised $30,000.

Matthew Harrison, who created the page, says nothing can heal what has happened but the family shouldn't be worrying about financial burdens at the moment.
