A mother and her son remain in hospital in serious but stable conditions after being struck by a fallen tree at the Shotover Jet base at Jack's Point in Queenstown, yesterday.
The pair are in Dunedin Hospital. Another member of the family, who was also injured in the incident, has now been discharged.
Strong winds in the area are being blamed for the tree having toppled early yesterday afternoon.
In a statement, Ngai Tahu Tourism said the tree fell on the bank of the Shotover River.
"The wellbeing of individuals is paramount and our focus is on supporting them, their whānau and our team," a statement released yesterday reads.
The Shotover Jet will remain closed today.
Detective Snr Sgt Malcolm Inglis told 1NEWS they're not sure when the tree will be removed as the arborist has to complete an investigation of the tree before the removal.
Chief Executive of Ngāi Tahu Tourism Quinton Hall says it's "not clear" who is responsible for the maintenance of the tree that collapsed.
"Well we're not clear, but that information will come out with the investgation," Mr Hall told 1 NEWS.
