Two tourists have found a missing woman who disappeared from the Mt Thomas Forest Conservation area in Waimakariri in Canterbury yesterday afternoon.
Monique Hickland, 31, left her family during a picnic near the Wooded Gully area at 4.30pm and hadn't been seen since.
Police say she was located by two tourists walking the track early this morning. They walked her out of the bush and delivered her to SAR staff around 8am.
The woman spent the night near the top of the mountain and was walking herself down the hill when she was found by the tourists.
The 31-year-old will be reunited with her family after being checked by medical staff.
