Mr Lowe has been missing since September 15 when he left his work on Portsmouth Drive in Dunedin.

A search for him resumed yesterday at the Catlins Conservation Park, after earlier being suspended due to a lack of leads.

Police today said they had found a body at the park near McLean Falls.

They said it had yet to be formally identified, but was believed to be Mr Lowe.

His family had been informed, Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said.

Mr Lowe's car was found at the park four days after he vanished.

A team of 50 people carried out an "extensive" search of the Catlins.
