Missing Bay of Plenty girl, 16, located in Dargaville

A teenage girl missing from the Bay of Plenty has been located in Dargaville this afternoon.

Sky Taylor-Eynon, 16, who is intellectually disabled, had not been seen since Wednesday night at her Katikati home.

Sky's stepmother, Tara Gillard, told 1 NEWS Sky has since made contact with her family. 

It was not unusual for Sky to run away from home, Ms Gillard said. She ran away once in May and in July and then December, but each time she was found within 24 hours.

Her mother had the suspicion that she may have gone to Dargaville in Northland to stay with a cousin, but the family said they hadn't seen her, Ms Gillard said.

Ms Gillard told 1 NEWS their family are relieved and would like to thank the public for their help in locating her.
