Milford Sound road to reopen after severe flooding in February

The remote but popular South Island tourist was hit by extreme weather in February.

The road into Milford Sound will reopen today, but only overnight.

State Highway 94 will be open to any road users between 5pm today and 7am tomorrow.

Outside those hours only convoys will be allowed through.

Convoys will also increase from three per day to one every hour.

Repair work on part of the road that was washed out in severe flooding in February is ongoing.
