Meet two good sorts looking after some very special trees

Hadyn Jones met with one of them, Donald Ellis, who lives in the South Island town of Maheno.

This week’s Good Sort is a Kiwi bloke who is looking after some very special trees planted a long time ago.

Donald Ellis lives right beside the bowling green in Maheno which is an hour’s drive north of Dunedin.

Maheno is part of the only living memorial in New Zealand to soldiers who never made it home from World Word I.

The roadside memorial stretches inland to Kurow and up to Oamaru in the north and Donald’s determined to look after all of it.
