Meet the Northland primary school teacher helping champion the environment while battling motor neuron disease

August 23, 2018

Miss Hope was dealt a devastating health blow recently and her students wanted her to know how much they care.

Last night's ASB Good as Gold nominee is a Northland primary school teacher who's championing the environment - even after being dealt a devastating health blow.

Ngunguru School's Lauren Hope is the brains behind the school's unique "Earth Ed" programme, which teaches students about ecology and the environment.

Ms Hope will be leaving the school at the end of the year after she was diagnosed with motor neuron disease two years ago, and her students wanted to let her know just how much they care.
