Marlborough’s first Mussel Appreciation Day marked with scrumptious seafood

March 16, 2018

Seven Sharp's Gill Higgins sampled some of the local mussels.

The first Mussel Appreciation Day was celebrated in Malbourough today.

The idea came from omega seafood marketing manager Jo O'Connell who says today, "the businesses in Picton are really turning it on for Mussel Appreciation Day, but it could happen all over the country."

The day consisted of mussel tastings and shucking lessons and seafood inspired menus.

Cortado cafe chef who comes from England, says "our muscles in England are no where near as good quality as you can get here with the green lipped mussels, they're amazing and known throughout the world."
