A man in his 50s has been seriously injured following a car crash involving two race cars in the Waikato this afternoon.
The incident occurred at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park just after 2pm, a spokesperson for Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust told 1 NEWS.
The man, who was trapped in his car, was later freed by emergency services.
He has multiple injuries and has been airlifted to Auckland City Hospital, a spokeperson for St John Ambulance told 1 NEWS.
Another person received moderate injuries in the crash and has been taken to Middlemore Hospital.
