Man in critical condition with head injuries after motorcycle crash in Masterton

One man has been left in a critical condition with head injuries after crashing his motorcycle in Masterton overnight.

Police told 1 NEWS the man was rushed to Wellington Hospital in critical condition after the accident on Colombo Rd just after 11pm.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

It follows a crash in the Bay of Plenty yesterday that left two people injured, one critically, after a motorcycle caught fire.

With over 100 deaths on New Zealand roads already this year, police have pleaded for caution while driving over the Easter holiday this year. Seven people died during Easter in 2018 but this year's road toll is currently zero.
