A man missing for three days with his dog in the Lake Taupo Forest has been found and rescued by helicopter.
The 48-year-old Taupo man went into the forest on Wednesday with his dog, trying to cut a track to use while hunting later with his horse.
Police were called around 10pm that night by his concerned partner, as he was due back before dark.
Land Search and Rescue volunteers from across the North Island were helped by Police, the Taupo based Greenlea Rescue Helicopter, as well as a privately hired aeroplane to find him.
Heavy rain, low cloud, wind and the difficult terrain made the search extremely difficult.
