Man dies in drowning near Auckland's Muriwai Beach

A man in his 50s has died after drowning near Auckland's Muriwai Beach.

Police say emergency services were called to Māori Bay at 1.30pm.

First aid was carried out on the victim but he could not be revived.

Fire and emergency services as well as ambulance are currently at the scene, a St John spokesperson says.
