A man has died following a kayaking incident on the Tongariro River today, near Waikato Falls in Kaimanawa Forest Park.
Police say emergency services responded to a report of a person missing in the water around 10:20am.
They say operation to rescue the man was launched but his body was located in the water around 12:40pm.
Efforts by Police and the LandSAR Ruapehu Alpine Rescue Organisation (RARO) to retrieve the body are underway.
