Man charged over stabbing of roadside preacher in Auckland CBD on Sunday

A 46-year-old man has been charged over the stabbing of a roadside preacher in the Auckland CBD on Sunday afternoon.

The Mt Eden Man was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 46-year-old allegedly verbally abused a man preaching outside St Kevin’s Arcade on Karangahape Road before allegedly confronting and stabbing the roadside preacher a short time later in the carpark of the Methodist Church on Pitt St.

The Mt Eden man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
