A 41-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 71-year-old Petone man who was found decapitated on Friday night.
Judge Arthur Tompkins gave the accused interim name suppression in the Hutt Valley District Court this morning as police revealed that the victim was Francis Tyson.
The 41-year-old has also been accused of wilful damage and possessing non-approved drugs for sale and supply and intentional damage.
He will reappear in the High Court on 19 December.
Police continue to appeal for anyone with information about the case to come forward.
