Man charged with killing Manurewa woman given name suppression

The body of 24-year-old Arishma Chand was discovered by her parents in a bedroom at her Manurewa home on Sunday morning.

A man accused of murdering 24 year-old Arishma Chand in Manurewa has made his first court appearance and been granted named suppression.

A 41-year-old man charged with the murder of Arishma Chand in Manurewa has made his first appearance in court.

The Flat Bush resident, who cannot yet be named, briefly appeared in Manukau District Court today.

He entered no plea to a single charge of murder and was remanded in custody.

Ms Chand, 24, was found dead in her Manurewa home on Sunday morning, 20 minutes after she called her parents frightened that there was someone outside.

Police today named 24-year-old Arishma Chand as the victim of the Auckland homicide on Sunday 12 November.

The accused was arrested yesterday and will next appear in High Court at Auckland on December 6.
