A man has been charged after a woman was stabbed in St Martins, Christchurch yesterday.
Police say the 22-year-old man was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after he stabbed a woman on Gamblins Road.
He is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court this afternoon.
The woman remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are not seeking anyone else over the incident and say there is no further risk to the public's safety.
