The man who allegedly shot at police in Morrinsville last month has pled not guilty at the High Court in Rotorua today.
Rollie Heke had been on the run since September last year, after cutting off his electronic bracelet, while waiting to be sentenced on methamphetamine charges. He was eventually captured last month.
Heke appeared via audio visual link and faces three charges of attempted murder of a police officer, possession of a semi-automatic firearm and possession of ammunition.
The 37-year-old also faces a charge of failing to stop and two charges of possession of equipment to manufacture methamphetamine.
Four others have been charged with being accessories after the fact of attempted murder and also pled not guilty.
All defendants were remanded in custody until November.
A trial date has been set for October next year at the High Court in Hamilton.
