A man has been taken to Christchurch Hospital in critical condition after falling 50 metres down a bank at a beach.
Police, ambulance and Fire and Emergency NZ all worked together to extricate the man after the incident, which took place at approximately 8pm.
A St John's spokesperson told 1 NEWS the man fell from rocks at Taylors Mistake Beach and required a stokes basket to be retrieved.
A police spokesperson also informed 1 NEWS the man fell at the Godley Heads end of the beach.
