One man is in critical condition and another has serious injuries after a car hit a tree in Waiuku, south of Auckland, this afternoon.
Police say the incident happened on Otaua Rd around 3:40pm.
Two men were trapped in the vehicle after the crash, one left in critical condition and the second with serious injuries.
The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported the man in critical condition to Middlemore Hospital.
The man with serious injuries was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

Diversions are in place Waiuku Otaua Rd at the intersections of Holmes Road and Smith Road.
The diversions will be in place for some time while police investigate the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
