Man, 62, charged with murdering fellow tourist appears in Nelson court

The tourist was found dead at the Rutherford Hotel, with a 62-year-old man charged over her death.

A 62-year-old tourist charged with murdering another overseas visitor in Nelson has appeared in court.

The man, who was granted interim name suppression, entered no plea at the Nelson District Court and has been remanded in custody.

On Friday, a 62-year-old Swiss woman was found dead at the Rutherford Hotel in the central city. 

He is due to appear in the High Court in Nelson on May 18.
