Man, 53, charged with murder of 39-year-old after shooting in Rotorua

One person is in custody after the incident in Mangakakahi last night.

A 53-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 39-year-old man died in a shooting in Rotorua last night.

The man has been remanded in custody until July 19 when he will appear in the Rotorua High Court, police said in a statement this afternoon.

Guards were in place overnight at two scenes in the Mangakakahi area.

Scene examinations have continued today.
