A 29-year-old man appeared in court today charged with rape following the alleged incident in Nelson overnight.
Police say the incident reportedly took place about 1.30am this morning, in a silver car parked in Buxton car park.
Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident especially one man who assisted the victim.
CCTV footage shows a man, who is not believed to be connected to the incident, walking towards the parked car.
The victim is seen getting out of the car and going towards the man.
Police say they believe this man helped the victim seek assistance at a nearby nightclub.
He is described as having a beard, and was wearing a blue denim jacket and a green cap.
