A major search operation is underway for a free diver missing off Titi Island in the Marlborough Sounds.

The 25-year-old man was reported missing to police at 3.17pm today.

Police say Search and Rescue teams, the Coastguard and a helicopter are currently searching the Titi Island area.

Other private vessels in the area are also assisting in the search, police say.
