Slow internet last night? You're not alone. A major fibre cut in Australia is currently impacting international connectivity to New Zealand and the United States.

Telecommunications company Vocus said the cut happened yesterday afternoon at around 4.00pm.

Technicians at the site in Sydney found that civil workers had damaged cables.

It’s believed the cut is impacting providers Orcon, Slingshot and Flip, that all issued customer alerts advising that two cables were broken.

Vocus says on its website that all circuits are expected to be restored at 6.00am this morning.
