'I loved you oi' - Kaitaia social worker allegedly messaged teen sex abuse victim

Chappy Harrison was a senior worker for the Ministry of Social Development in Kaitaia when he was accused of sexually harassing a 14-year-old girl.

A friend of the teenage complainant who accused Kaitaia social worker Chappy Harrison of sexual abuse has told the court of messages he allegedly saw on the girl's mobile phone, which the victim claimed were from the defendant.

The boy, now 18, says he was borrowing the girl's phone when he saw two Facebook messages appear.

He told the court the messages said, "I miss you oi" and "I loved you oi".

He said the messages made him angry.  At the time he didn't know they were from Chappy Harrison because he was going by the name Wai Tapu.

When he spoke to the victim about what he saw, she described Harrison allegedly holding her against a wall and kissing her neck.

The boy said he didn't tell anyone because he didn't feel it was his place.

The complainant, who was 14 when she claims the sexual abuse happened, gave evidence via video link in a closed courtroom.

Chappy Harrison is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl while he was a senior social worker in Kaitaia.

The trial is set down for the rest of the week.
