Armed police officers this morning blocked off a road and surrounded a dairy on the outskirts of Tauranga.
Loud bangs coming from the rear of the Whakamarama Superette were heard, with police later telling 1 NEWS they were 'flash bangs' which are distraction devices.
Police said a search warrant was executed. It is not known if arrests were made.
It is believed a property at the back of the dairy was part of the police operation.
Cordons have since been lifted.
